YouTube Shorts hit 70 billion daily views in 2024, and the number keeps climbing. For creators already running a YouTube channel, Shorts serve two purposes: they feed subscribers quick content between long-form uploads, and they pull in new viewers who might never have found the channel through search alone.

The tricky part is that Shorts require a completely different production approach than standard YouTube videos. The pacing is faster, the hook has to land in under two seconds, and the vertical format means you can't just crop a landscape video and call it done. Creators who try to repurpose long-form content into Shorts without rethinking the structure usually see poor retention.

AI video generators are particularly useful here because they're built for the short-form format from the start. You give them a topic, they produce a vertical video with the right pacing, hook structure, and caption placement. For creators who want to post Shorts daily without taking time away from their main upload schedule, it's a practical solution.

• ✕Repurposing long-form content into Shorts still requires re-editing, new hooks, and fresh captions
